For the crit we were split into pairs and each in turn we had to analyse our peers work, this crit allowed us to discuss our views together and come up with constructive criticisms.
The feedback I also gained from my work was both positive and constructive on how I could make my mail shot more effective.
Things I did successfully
The process of creating my mail shot was challenging due to the complexity of creating my piece. The stock I used also contributed to this as I firstly printed them on paper and it was too weak to hold a strong structure and also there was creases created within the design when gluing them together which made the design look less effective. I then mounted them onto card which was a long process and I had to be very careful when cutting and using the craft knife as if I cut too much off the design wouldn't fit together.
I also found that creating an envelope was very difficult in trying to make the correct dimensions. The design was also printed on paper and was very weak and unstructured so in my development I will try experimenting with different stock. I also didn't have enough time to print the acetate design off so I just used paper again which made it less effective. However in my development I will experiment with this further and organise my time more wisely.
I agree with the consideration in terms of the stock specifically, I also want to consider using a different method like laser cutting to make the design more precise.
Things I did successfully
- "Very clean message, effectively and imaginatively communicated."
- "Contemporary and edgy style."
- "Colours are appropriate and meet the correct requirements."
- "Good choice of character."
Things I need to consider
- "Stronger stock for the mail shot as it is very fragile."
- "Maybe don't cut as close to the edge of the mail shot."
- "Consider using acetate for the peep hole in the envelope."
- "Review stock to keep consistency."
- "Different securing method."
- "Experiment with colour."
