CONTEXTUAL REFERENCE'S I LIKE & DISLIKE

Designs that I like.

Monnet Laurent is a graphic designer and illustrator from France and this is a personal project called ' A girl can. .'  The project is based upon the view of women, according to a false utopian and contradictory value. I really like the intricate detail of the poster and how it uses multimedia - illustration and Photoshop, to make the end product. I also like it's abstract style and use of subtle tones.

Mikey Burton
This is a film poster created by graphic designer Mikey Burton, I really like how the poster has a worn vintage effect and looks as though it has been created through the process of screen print. I also like how it uses only two colours and the brightness of the yellow really stands out. The simplicity of the design is powerful and effective.

Designs that I dislike.

This is a music poster created by design Mindfuckx, I don't like this design as I feel the graphics are dated, with the use of swirls and repetition of images. The design is over worked and makes it look over crowded and not striking or effective.

This is an image I found on a graphic design tumblr blog, I dislike this piece of work as I feel there has been no thought into the design. The type with the circle around it looks tacky and the image is of a really bad quality and adds no depth or definition to the final image. I think the concept of the image is trying to say they don't like LA, but there is no explicit indication of the city.
